  • Wohnzimmer project finally getting built

    Monday, November 23rd, 2015

After big delays the Wohnzimmer project is up and running again. These are the stained and oiled pieces of a small table – the first and smallest of the seven pieces being made for the Wohnzimmer. With 3 weeks in Scotland in December, it will be early 2016 before this is all finished.

  • Last of the scale models

    Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

Bits and pieces from a 1:10 scale room. Full size build and installation should begin soon

  • Bookcase

    Tuesday, August 18th, 2015

This is a 1:10 scale model of a bookcase. In pieces. Other than that, I’m designing wooden gliders and mirrors. I could look at myself throwing the glider onto the bookcase.

  • Two Dots

    Friday, August 7th, 2015

Two dots. Beeswax and blue dye. Final touches before assembly. Prototype minus a mirror will be finished over the weekend.

  • Broke the saw

    Tuesday, August 4th, 2015

I said a storage unit would have been prototyped by the end of last week. This would have been true if I hadn’t broken the studio Dekupiers√§ge (table saw with an engine). So while we wait for the new part it’s back to hand tools. When I say ‘back to’ that’s not really correct, as

    Tuesday, July 28th, 2015

Two circles! I’ve done something that isn’t only straight lines. Radical. Model of a storage unit for the Wohnzimmer will be getting prototyped full size at the end of the week. Frames/Planes/tool-less assembly. CIRCLES

  • Bedroom of prototypes

    Monday, July 20th, 2015

Have been prototyping some solutions which can be used for the Wohnzimmer project – this can be pretty handy when you have recently moved into an unfurnished flat. Currently thinking a lot about frames and planes – including ones that fly.

  • Colour and Gliders

    Monday, July 6th, 2015

On Saturday we were working on a couple of projects. The serious work being done by Rosemary – experimenting with colour and pattern for fabrics and wall-hangings for the Wohnzimmer. I spent the day making a cardboard glider. This might seem like a waste of time, but was for a legitimate project. You can see

  • First real prototype

    Friday, July 3rd, 2015

It’s made from about 35EUR of planks from Toom, a couple of ratchet straps and is an armchair. I’ve used a few nuts and bolts here, but they wouldn’t be necessary had I used some plywood – which is probably the plan. The success of the prototype has got me thinking of creating a DIY

  • Yet more card

    Friday, June 26th, 2015

This week I have cut even more card. Have been refining a few little models and have found something which seems to work  with 2mm card and elastic bands Рfingers crossed this scales-up into a working wooden prototype next week. This should be a construction logic which works for tables/seating/everything and could be made
